The flagship event of the NUS Students’ Sports Club, RunNUS has become an NUS sporting tradition that brings together the entire NUS community. For the first time, this year’s RunNUS, which takes place on 15 August, will incorporate the element of giving back by raising funds to help NUS students in financial difficulties.
The proceeds from runners’ registration fees will go towards the Annual Giving campaign, which seeks support for bursaries. Runners can also ask friends to pledge gifts to Annual Giving on their behalf. Runners with the most pledges will stand to win prizes.
Like the previous runs, RunNUS 2010 will take participants through the NUS Kent Ridge campus on two routes which follow the Kent Ridge Heritage Trail – the 10km competitive run and the 5km fun run. Last year’s race attracted 1,600 students, alumni, staff and members of the public and this year over 2,000 runners are expected. The cost of organising the event is covered by sponsorship.
