More than two thousand participants took to the running trail around the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) Kent Ridge campus to raise funds for student bursaries.
RunNUS was a tremendous success with 2,274 runners raising S$47,879 this year. This surpassed last year’s amount of S$37,110 and 1,833 participants.
RunNUS Project Director, Third Year Engineering student Joshua Lim says, “Giving back to society not only helps other people, it also helps the giver develop their character and sense of empathy. As society progresses, it is crucial that everyone still cares for each other. After all, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.”
RunNUS is an annual running event organised by the NUS Students’ Sports Club. Since 2010, RunNUS has partnered with the NUS Annual Giving Campaign, which is a yearly appeal to alumni, staff, students, faculty and friends of the University to raise funds for student support.
The proceeds from RunNUS registrations and pledges go towards the NUS Annual Giving Campaign to help fund bursaries for students facing financial difficulties.
