Raffles Quay Asset Management (RQAM), the manager of the Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC), celebrated the opening of MBFC by making a gift totalling S$1million to four universities, including the National University of Singapore.
The gift, which was presented by Mr Warren Bishop, Chief Executive Officer of RQAM, will be used to set up RQAM Study Grants to nurture the next generation of business leaders.
Professor Tan Eng Chye, Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost, says, “This generous gift from RQAM will enable NUS to offer more bursaries to our neediest students and make a real difference to their university experience. In addition to reducing their debt burden upon graduation, they will be better placed to take advantage of the many opportunities available at NUS, both inside and outside the classroom.”
The gift announcement was made at the opening ceremony for MBFC, the largest integrated mixed-use development in Singapore’s new downtown. The ceremony was graced by the Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Lee Hsien Loong, and attended by representatives from all the shareholders of MBFC as well as guests from leading businesses, financial institutions and key government agencies.
