I have read in newspapers the opinion held by some people that it’s the responsibility of the Government and universities to provide for needy students. I’m glad that the donors of bursaries don’t think so because, if they do, then there simply won’t be enough bursaries to support all eligible needy students. I am very grateful to the donors, who have given selflessly to students whom they have not even met. They have done so purely because they believe strongly that their giving would make a difference. The truth is, it does.
