FACULTY OF DENTISTRY 80TH ANNIVERSARY BURSARY (2009)
In 2009, the Faculty of Dentistry commemorated its 80th year in dental education and service. Beginning as a humble Department of Dentistry within the King Edward VII College of Medicine in 1929, the Faculty has impacted the field of dentistry with its tripartite mission of education, research and clinical service.
To mark its achievements and inspire the Faculty to greater heights, dental alumni, students, staff and friends rallied to contribute to the Faculty of Dentistry 80th Anniversary Bursary Fund. Through this Bursary, the Faculty hopes to continue to empower and contribute to the future success of its students.
FOK CHU ON FAMILY BURSARY (2007)
The late Mr Fok Chu On was a senior banker who believed in helping the next generation through education. He set up various bursary and scholarship funds around the world. Mr Fok received excellent medical care in Singapore and in return, wished to support underprivileged medical and nursing students so that they may wholly devote their time to their studies.
The Fok Chu On Family Bursary is supported by his gift to NUS. Upon his passing, the Bursary received further support from the Fok Chu On Family Charitable Foundation and Mr Edmund Lee Kit Ming.
FOO HEE LIM BURSARY (2009)
The late Mr Foo Hee Lim was a self-made man, becoming a certified accountant through a correspondence course. As his firm Foo Hee Lim & Co grew, he was able to give back to educational causes throughout his life. He bequeathed a portion of his wealth to support deserving students to be groomed as professionals and contribute to society in their turn. When he passed away in 2004 at the age of 87, his estate gave to NUS and other educational institutions.
At the NUS Business School, Mr Foo’s generosity supports the Foo Hee Lim Bursary which is made available to Singaporean and Singapore PR students.
