E50 NUS BUSINESS SCHOOL UNDERGRADUATE BURSARY (2012)
The local private firms which have contributed to Singapore’s economic development are not only leaders in their fields, they also help nurture the next generation of talents. The recipients of the Enterprise 50 (E50) Awards, which recognises outstanding home-grown firms since 1995, invite student teams from the NUS Business School to profile and produce consulting reports for them in the novel Enterprise 50 Educational Project. Through these projects, students have the opportunity to apply their classroom skills and learn by interacting with business leaders.
Beyond their in-kind support, E50 firms and individuals are also generous in their financial support for the School. Their donations fund the Bursary, which aids needy Business undergraduates.
ECM LIBRA FOUNDATION BURSARY (2015)
ECM Libra Foundation, incorporated on 30 October 2004 as a charitable organisation by its Founders namely Dato’ Seri Kalimullah bin Hassan, Mr Lim Kian Onn and Dato’ Chua Ming Huat with the objective of providing financial assistance for educational purposes for underprivileged Malaysians, irrespective of race, religion or creed. The Founders believe that education is the key to escaping the clutches of poverty and hardship; that education is the way to forge the workforce to take Malaysia to the next level; and that education is the best way to give people a hope and a dream.
The ECM Libra Foundation Bursary is awarded to deserving and financially-needy Malaysian students who have been accepted for or are undertaking full-time undergraduate studies at NUS.
EDDIE CHNG WENG WAH BURSARY (2013)
Mr Eddie Chng honed an entrepreneur’s instinct from childhood, selling drinks at the National Stadium during football matches. Eventually, he rose from his humble origins of growing up in a one-room flat to become Chief Executive Officer of investment holding firm Equation Summit Limited. Mr Chng believes that education is key to stepping out of poverty. Pleased with the qualities present in his employees who had graduated from NUS, he chose to give back to their University.
Established with a gift from Mr Chng, this Bursary is awarded to needy undergraduate students.
EDMUND LEE WAH BOW BURSARY (2015)
Mr Edmund Lee Wah Bow was a pioneer in the trustee industry in Asia, having started the Standard Chartered Bank Hong Kong Trustee Limited fifty years ago. Upon his retirement in 1992, he moved to Singapore. His son, Mr Edmund Lee Kit Ming, made a gift to NUS to establish a bursary in honour of his father.
The Edmund Lee Wah Bow Bursary is awarded to two first-year students studying at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies of any nationality who are facing financial difficulties.
ELLA CHEONG BURSARY (2010)
A stalwart in the field of intellectual property in Asia, Ms Ella Cheong is passionate about nurturing the lawyers of tomorrow. Having benefited from a successful practice in Singapore, she sees it as both a calling and a duty to help budding lawyers realise their dreams and ambitions.
The Bursary, established by NUS with support from Ms Cheong, is available to financially disadvantaged law students.
ENG @ 82 BURSARY (2010)
The NUS Engineering Class of 1982 came together to support the ENG @ 82 Bursary for financially disadvantaged full-time undergraduates at the Faculty of Engineering. Alumnus Mr Seah Cheng San (’82) who was inspired by the scholarship he received during his university days, rallied his classmates and championed this initiative. The following sub-named awards were established:
ENG @ 82 – BOON KUI AND SIEW LIAN BURSARY
Mr Tew Boon Kui and Ms Teo Siew Lian are alumni from the Class of ’82 who met while studying at NUS. They believe in the importance of helping financially needy students and contributed generously to this Bursary.
ENG @ 82 – DESIGN 82 BURSARY
Ms Wan Siew Ping graduated from NUS in 1982 and began her career as a process engineer. She wishes to raise awareness of the importance of applying scientific and engineering knowledge from a design perspective.
ENG @ 82 – DRH/SHEARES HALL ALUMNI BURSARY
This sub-named Bursary is named in recognition of a group of donors from Dunearn Road Hostels (DRH) / Sheares Hall (SH) who participated in the Engineering Charity Golf 2014.
ENG @ 82 – ECE ALUMNI BURSARY
The ECE Alumni Committee organised the Engineering Charity Golf Tournament in 2014. The proceeds went towards supporting financially needy ECE students. This sub-named Bursary recognises its contributions.

His family and his company, Fidens Engineering Pte Ltd, are the two things that Mr Tan Teo Hoo holds dear. An alumnus from the Class of ’82, Mr Tan is passionate about lending a helping hand to financially needy students.

Future Engineering & Communication (FEC) Group was established in 1990 by Mr Henry Cheang Wee Kok Seng, an NUS Engineering ’82 alumnus. The Group hopes to encourage graduates to pursue engineering careers by supporting the Bursary.

Mr Ong Hian Hai, an NUS Engineering ’82 alumnus, together with his wife Madam Kang Wee, made a gift to assist financially needy students.
ENG @ 82 – INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS SINGAPORE BURSARY
The Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES) supported the Engineering Charity Golf Tournament 2014 with a gift towards bursaries. The IES hopes to encourage deserving students to pursue an engineering career and help advance the field.

Mr Kunna Chinniah, NUS Engineering Class of ’82, is a long-serving investment professional at GIC. He supported the bursary award to help underprivileged engineering students.

Mr Lew Kim Soon, Mr Sim Jim Ho and Mr Seah Cheng San met during their engineering degree course and remain good friends. Together, they made a gift to this sub-named Bursary to commemorate their friendship.

MATCOR Technology & Services Pte Ltd, a home-grown forensic engineering and consultancy company, has made a gift together with Dr David Y H Tay and Ms Sim Kheng Wah, to support financially needy engineering undergraduates.

Mr and Mrs Ng Seng Yoong have built successful careers since graduating from the Faculty of Engineering in 1982. They made a gift with the hope that promoting an engineering education can help create a better world.

Mr Ng Meng Kwee and Madam Chua Shok Hwa are parents of Ms Angie Ng Hui Lan who graduated from the NUS Engineering Class of ’82. Ms Ng made a gift in appreciation of their hard work and commitment to providing a good education for their children.

This sub-named Bursary was established to commemorate the inaugural Engineering Charity Golf Tournament in 2014 and to help financially needy students.

Madam Ong Yue Kam raised 9 children single-handedly despite being a housewife. Her son, Mr Tan Boon Hua, who graduated from the NUS Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1982, made a gift in honour of his mother.
ENG @ 82 – SEAH & SIAK BURSARY
Mr Seah Cheng San and his wife, Madam Chong Siak Ching, each received the NUS Distinguished Alumni Service Award for their contributions to NUS and the wider community. The name “Seah & Siak” was the nickname they were known by during their undergraduate days at NUS.
ENG @ 82 – TEOH CHENG ANN AND CHEN SOON BIN BURSARY
Mr Teoh Cheng Ann and Mdm Chen Soon Bin first met as classmates at the NUS Department of Electrical Engineering. They graduated in 1982, got married in 1984 and went on to have 4 children. They made a gift in appreciation of NUS.

Volvo East Asia is a player in the local automobile industry. The company made a gift to assist students in overcoming financial hurdles.
ENG @ 82 – YEO KIM NEO BURSARY
Ms Yeo Kim Neo was a teacher in Methodist Girls School, Malacca. She passed away in 1988 and her son Mr Wong Sieh Hiin went on to graduate from the NUS Faculty of Engineering. Her brother, Mr Yeo Keng Joon, made a gift in her memory.

Mr Steven Yeoh is an Engineering ’82 alumnus. He made a gift in honour of his father, Mr Yeoh Oon Teng.
ERIC YEO YEE TUAN MEDICAL BURSARY (2015)
Dr Eric Yeo Yee Tuan was a founding member of the College of Family Physicians. He was a General Practitioner at Wong Dispensary in Bukit Timah in the 1970s. Dr Yeo was also a Voluntary Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Upon his retirement, he decided to make a gift to NUS Medicine to lend a helping hand to financially disadvantaged medical students. NUS established the Eric Yeo Yee Tuan Medical Bursary in recognition of his gift.
ESCO MICRO BURSARY (2009)
He has not forgotten what it means to be once on the receiving end of kindness. Mr Lim Lay Yew, an NUS Pharmacy alumnus, was a scholarship recipient in his undergraduate days. The experience has stayed with him ever since.
As a gesture of appreciation, Mr Lim, Chief Executive Officer of Esco Micro Pte Ltd, a leader in the development of laboratory, medical and pharmaceutical equipment solutions, made a gift to NUS. The Bursary is awarded to financially needy students majoring in Pharmacy, Life Science, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
EUGENE GOH YU YUEN BURSARY (2014)
The late Dr Eugene Goh, a graduate of NUS Medicine Class of 1997, underwent sub-specialty training in intensive care medicine in the Mayo Clinic in the USA. His stellar performance there paved the way for more Singapore an doctors to go for training in Mayo.
Dr Goh lived life to the fullest, and passed away in 2012. His parents, Henry and Margaret Goh, together with his friends and colleagues, donated to an endowed bursary in his memory. The Eugene Goh Yu Yuen Bursary is awarded to aid financially under privileged medical students.
EUSOFF HALL 55TH ANNIVERSARY BURSARY (2013)
Established in 1958, Eusoff Hall began life as Eusoff College, the first and only hall for women at the then University of Malaya in Singapore. Eusoff Hall celebrated its 55th Anniversary in 2013, and celebrated by publishing a coffee table book commemorating inspiring stories of Eusoffians’ past and present.
The launch of this book presented an opportunity for alumni to give back to future generations of Eusoffians. The Eusoff Hall 55th Anniversary Bursary is available to financially disadvantaged Eusoffians and is representative of the united spirit of its residents.
EUSOFF-NGEE ANN KONGSI STUDENT ASSISTANCE FUND (2008)
Established in 1845 by a group of prominent Teochew leaders, the Ngee Ann Kongsi furthers the cause of education, healthcare and service for the less fortunate in the community, regardless of ethnicity and religion. In 2008, the Kongsi made a gift to support financially disadvantaged Eusoffians, in celebration of the Hall’s 50th anniversary.
The Student Assistance Fund is available to tide students at Eusoff Hall over for short periods of financial difficulty or while they await other forms of aid.
EXCEL PRECAST BURSARY (2015)
There is nothing like the gift of a good education to fulfil aspirations and transform lives. This belief has spurred Mr Tan Bian Tiong, Chief Executive Officer of Excel Precast Pte Ltd, a precast construction solution provider, to establish a bursary for needy undergraduates from Civil Engineering and Business Administration. He believes that higher education should be accessible to everyone having the talent and potential, regardless of their background.
For Mr Tan, the Bursary not only allows students to forge their own path in life, but also inspires a passion to ultimately give back to society.
