CSE Global Limited (CSE), a global system integration company headquartered in Singapore, has made a contribution to the National University of Singapore (NUS) Faculty of Engineering to establish the CSE Global Engineering Bursary for financially needy students studying Engineering.
Behind this decision was the desire to help future generations of financially disadvantaged students through bursaries. As most of CSE’s employees have an engineering background, their gift specifically helps engineering students.
“We hope the Bursary can lighten the financial burden of the students,” expresses Mr Lim Boon Kheng, Group Managing Director of CSE, who made the decision together with Mr Tan Mok Koon, a pioneer of the company, Mr Lim Ming Seong, the Chairman and the Board of Directors.
CSE commenced operations in 1985 as the engineering projects division of Chartered Electronics, the electronics arm of Singapore Technologies. The Board of Directors and management worked hard and with determination and expertise, grew the company to what it is today – a public listed company with 1,300 employees worldwide.
Profit from a recent divestment created the perfect opportunity for CSE to make a meaningful contribution to society. Mr Lim, an NUS graduate, explains, “CSE has always been making contributions to smaller non-profit organisations and lesser-known charities. This time, we decided to give back to education. After all, we all came from humble backgrounds and we owe our success in part to the education we received.”
When asked if he had any advice for the recipients of the Bursary, Mr Lim says, “Just work hard and you will reap the rewards of your labour.”
