Shares or Securities
You can show your support in the form of securities including shares, unit trusts and bonds. These securities shall be readily tradable in Singapore or Foreign Exchange, or convertible to cash.
The value of the securities will be based on the price of the same type of securities in the open market, at the last transaction of such securities on the date when the legal title is transferred to the University, and the securities are available for trading.
Some gifts of real estate may be sold to release their value in order to fulfil the purpose of the gift. Others may be preserved as valuable additions to the University’s landholdings.
Leave your legacy. Make a planned gift that will impact future generations. You can support the University as a whole or the aspect of University life which you prefer.

Here are three of the most common types of planned gifts:
A charitable bequest can take many forms so you have considerable flexibility. You remain in complete control of the bequest process and can change any bequest provision during your lifetime.
You can leave a specific asset, sum of money, percentage of your estate or what remains of your estate after you have provided for other beneficiaries.
You can also designate how you want your bequest to be used or leave it unrestricted so that NUS may direct the funds to where it is most needed at the time.
You can designate NUS as the beneficiary of your insurance policy when the policy is no longer important to your family’s financial security. Alternatively, you can purchase an insurance policy and name NUS both the owner and the beneficiary.
In Honour/In Memoriam
Honorary gifts are a meaningful way to pay tribute to a living person. You can choose to honour a special occasion or achievement, or merely acknowledge the honouree’s importance in your life.
Memorial Gifts are a special way to honour a friend or loved one who has passed away. Your gift will ensure a legacy for the deceased that can impact the future.
Are you an American Tax Resident?
NUS America Foundation is a California nonprofit organisation that supports NUS by facilitating charitable giving from alumni and friends in the US. The Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity.
If you are a US tax resident, your contribution to the Foundation may be fully tax-deductible to the amount allowed by US law.
In addition, your contribution attracts the prevailing matching grant from the Singapore government, increasing the impact NUS receives from your gift dollar.

I may not have had the chance to come to university if not for this Bursary. Thank you for the opportunity to pursue my dream.
