The Hong Kong & Macau Taiwanese Charity Fund Limited (HMTCF), a foundation set up by Taiwanese nationals residing in Hong Kong and Macau to support education, healthcare and disaster relief, has chosen NUS to receive its first gift to Singapore. This gift will be used to set up the HMTFC Angel Care Bursary to benefit NUS students with financial difficulties. Starting in Academic Year 2010/2011, the bursaries will be awarded to around 100 eligible NUS undergraduates of any nationality.
Ms Angelique Yeh, HMTCF Vice President, set up the Angel Care Student Assistantship Program to help financially disadvantaged university students pursue knowledge and truth. By providing financial assistance, Ms Yeh hopes that the recipients will contribute to the society after graduation and pass on their caring spirit to the next generation to create more opportunities. Since 2008, more than 30 universities in Hong Kong Taiwan, Macau and Singapore have benefitted from this programme.
